The St. Helena (6,767 grt, 345 ft. long) was built in 1989-90 and is the last ship carrying the title Royal Mail Ship.
She is due for retirement in 2010 when the airfield under construction on St. Helena is scheduled to be in operation.
The ship was originally operated by Curnow Shipping, a company which had
operated an earlier link with St. Helena, St. Helena Shipping Co.
