To Panama Mail Steamship Co.

See the interior of a Pacific Mail Steamship Co. brochure from 1923,
which shows that Panama Mail had its origins in Pacific Mail.

The Ecuador (5,544 grt, 380 ft. long), sister of the Colombia and Venezuela, was built for Royal Dutch West India Mail in
1915. Soon sold to Pacific Mail Steamship Co. and put on the trans-Pacific service from San Francisco to the Far East until
1921, then moved to the intercoastal route (later under the Panama Mail name) until transferred to Grace Line in 1931.
Renamed Santa Olivia she sailed on the New York-Valparaiso run. Under other owners from 1936, and serving in WW2 as
a troopship, she ended her days as the Negbah for Zim Lines. She sailed for the Israeli company between 1948 and 1956
and was finally scrapped a year later.
