To Nederland Line.

The Oranje (20,017 grt, 656 ft. long) entered service on the Amsterdam-Batavia route in 1939.
During WW2 she served as a hospital ship for the Royal Australian Navy. From 1946 she was back
on her original route, later sailing regularly round-the-world via Australia when politics prevented
her from operating to Indonesia. She was sold to Flotta Lauro in 1964 and renamed Angelina Lauro.
After extensive rebuilding she sailed between Europe and Australia until 1972, when she turned to
full-time cruising. She became a complete loss in 1979 after a fire broke out when at port in the
U.S. Virgin Islands.
