To Great Lakes Transit Corporation.

The Tionesta, Juniata and Octorara (4,329/4,333/4,329 grt, 340 ft. long) were delivered to the Great Lakes operator Erie & Western
Transportation Co.
(Anchor Line) in 1903, 1905 and 1910 respectively. They were all sold to Great Lakes Transit Corporation in 1916 and
retired after 20 years. After their lay up in 1936, the three steamers met very different fates. The Tionesta was scrapped in 1940 and the
Octorara was converted to a troop transport during WW2 and broken up in 1951. The Juniata however, was sold to Wisconsin & Michigan
Steamship Co.
in 1940 and rebuilt as the Milwaukee Clipper (4,272 grt). She sailed on for almost another 30 years, until laid up in 1970.
Having become a National Historic Landmark in 1988, she was eventually towed to Muskegon in 1997 where she is now preserved by the
S.S. Milwaukee Clipper Preservation, Inc. as the oldest passenger ship on the Great Lakes.
