A 1927 postcard showing the Augustus (32,650 grt, 711 ft. long), which initially plied the route between Genoa and La Plata.
She was built in 1927 and held the distinction of being the largest motorship ever built until the advent of large cruise ships and
ferries some 50 years later. The Augustus usually operated on the North Atlantic route of NGI and later Italian Line. She was
sunk as a block ship in Genoa in 1944 and consequently scrapped after the war.
