Air Vietnam
(Hàng Không Viêt Nam)

South Vietnam

Air Vietnam (Hàng Không Viêt Nam in Vietnamese) was formed in 1951 to take over local and regional
routes of Air France. With the French defeat in the Indo-Chinese war and the establishment of two Vietnamese states,
Air Vietnam became the national airline of South Vietnam. The airline was closed down when Vietnam was reunited
in 1975. The government in Hanoi established a new Hàng Không Viêt Nam in 1976, the later Vietnam Airlines.
