SAM
(Sociedad Aeronáutica de Medellín)
Colombia
SAM started as a cargo operator in 1946. Passenger services under the title
RAS - Rutas Aéreas SAM (later Rutas Aéreas de Colombia) were added in 1955.
International services were flown in cooperation with KLM, but these were discontinued together
with the RAS title, in 1961. After a reorganization in 1962, SAM became an Avianca subsidiary.
