British United (CI) Airways

formerly
Jersey Airlines

Channel Islands

Jersey Airlines opened its first service in 1952. Ten years later the airline was taken over by the British United group
and reorganized as British United (CI) Airways, in 1967 becoming British United Airways (CI).
When British & Commonwealth Shipping in 1968 acquired British United Airways, British United Airways (CI)
and a few other companies of the group, British United Island Airways - BUIA was formed, merging the operations of
British United Airways (CI), British United Airways (Manx) and Morton Air Services.
BUIA changed its name to BIA - British Island Airways in 1970.
