Europa-Union was formed in 1925 from the merger of two groups of companies affiliated with Junkers: Trans-Europa-Union and Nord-Europa-Union (formerly Ost-Europa-Union), both created in 1923. The founding of the national airline Deutsche Lufthansa early in 1926 prevented Europa-Union from becoming operational.
