Aerolíneas Mexicanas was formed in 1955. In 1956 it took over some unprofitable routes from Aeronaves de Mexico. Later the airline concentrated on low-fare services to Mexican towns on the U.S. border in stiff competition with Mexicana (CMA). Aeronaves bought it in September 1960.
