To Shaw Savill Line.

The Ceramic (18,713 grt in 1936, 679 ft. long) sailed on her maiden voyage between Liverpool and Sydney
for White Star Line in 1913. After war service as a troop transport she was back on the
London-Sydney run in 1920. She was transferred to Shaw Savill Line in 1934.
The postcard above shows her after her reconstruction in 1936. Again a troop transport in 1940
she was torpedoed and sunk off the Azores with the loss of 655 lives in December 1942.
