Founded in 1826 as the Preussisch-Rheinische Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft, the company was known as
Kölnische und Düsseldorfer Gesellschaft für Rheindampfschiffahrt 1853-1926 and then until 1967 as
Köln-Düsseldorfer Rheindampfschiffahrt. That year the company took its present name,
Köln-Düsseldorfer, Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt AG.
